Itamar Ben-Ami is a doctoral student in the Department of Political Science at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and a graduate of the ultra-Orthodox yeshiva world. His dissertation focuses on critical conceptualizations of the modern sovereign state, concentrating on the thought of German-Jewish emigrés during World War II, specifically Leo Strauss, Hannah Arendt, Hans Morgenthau, and Hans Kelsen. His research interests include intellectual history, political theology, critical political theory, and conceptual history. His dissertation is being written under the guidance of Prof. Dan Avnon and Prof. Menachem Lorberbaum.
